To celebrate Women’s History Month, we compiled data from the Federal Procurement Data System to highlight the vital role women-owned businesses play in our economy. Women entrepreneurs are making a difference nationwide and across sectors, fueling growth in industries like manufacturing, retail trade, and construction. In FY20, women-owned businesses executed 344,000 contracts across the U.S., with 4,591 contracts specifically providing critical COVID-19 support.
The Federal Government has been working to increase partnerships with these businesses, with a current goal of awarding 5% of total contracts to women-owned small businesses. From FY16 to FY19, women-owned businesses have more than doubled their number of contracts executed, increasing from 275,000 contracts to nearly 574,000.
